Moving to a new home can be both an exciting and overwhelming time in someone’s life; there are a lot of things to consider during the planning process, and packing everything up can be quite the arduous task.

We’re happy to be able to offer packing as one of our services to help facilitate a smoother move, but for those that prefer to pack their own items here are some important tips to consider when moving to a new home:

‘Labels. Many people don’t want to invest time and energy into labeling their boxes. But that is a great mistake. You will spend more time on finding the right box while unpacking than labeling every box before a moving day. Imagine that you have already moved to a new office or apartment and need to find a box with cups and plates. Or you need to find a box with socks and T-shirts. Which box are you going to start with?

Heavy items. Heavy items like books and candlesticks should be always at the bottom of the box.

Clothes. Put all clothes in separate boxes. Never mix living room decorations or bathroom items with your clothes. You can put your clothing on hangers directly into the box. Always pack jewelry and shoes separately.’ (source: newsamericasnow.com)
